NEWS & EVENTS
Dear Members and Friends of KCC-JEE,
We are pleased to invite you to our 101st Annual Meeting, the first of our next century of service to international exchange and partnership with Kobe College. With continued uncertainty over the health of the nation and memories of our wonderfully international 100 Year Celebration last year, we will hold our Annual Meeting via Zoom again this year.
The focus for this year’s Annual Meeting is the Gottschalk Teachers program. We were inspired by the reunion of Gottschalk teachers in May that brought together the many former teachers and students who shared their memories. They reminded us all of the value and importance, and lifetime impact, of those experiences. There will be two pairs of video presenters: Joyce Hartman (Turner), former missionary teacher 1954-57 who taught Hiroko Nishimura, KCHS class of 1959; and Erika Daligcon (Botha), a Gottschalk Teacher 1999-2001 who taught Miho Sodeno, KCHS class of 2005. We look forward to hearing their stories of teaching and learning together.
With the blessings of technology, we will again invite our friends and colleagues in Japan to join the meeting. To accommodate the time difference, this year’s annual meeting will be held on Friday evening September 10 from 7:00-9:00 Central Time, which will be 9:00 am Saturday morning in Nishinomiya. Please save the date.
We look forward to gathering together with all of you to celebrate another year and a new century of friendship and collaboration between KC and KCC-JEE.

Open Letter to the KCC-JEE Community,
For over a century, Kobe College Corporation-Japan Education Exchange has been a partner with Kobe College in support of US/Japan educational programs. We are a truly bicultural organization. Therefore, it has been deeply disheartening and horrifying to witness the recent rise in hate crimes and overt discrimination against Asians in the US and elsewhere. We stand together with Asian-Americans who have suffered under this current wave of anti-Asian hate crimes, which is disgraceful and unacceptable. Our hearts go out to the victims of indiscriminate aggression and call on our community to speak out against anti-Asian acts and sentiments. We stand strong in our commitment to inspire positive relationships among Kobe College, Japan, and the US through nurturing mutual understanding and respect for one another.
